Thong Nai Pan does have a good nightlife scene but neither Thong Nai Pan Noi nor Thong Nai Pan Yai can be described as 'party' beaches. The nightlife of the area peaked in 2008. With the financial crash lots of ex-pats left. Moreover, as Rasananda opened in Noi, Hideaway got pulled down, Pong's was closed and Jungle Bar lost its appeal. For a whole group of reasons Thong Nai Pan calmed down.

Presently there are no real big parties in Noi. Yai still attracts a young backpacker crowd and the bars compete with loud music and happy hours for their trade. However, much of the bar action lacks the feeling of nightclubbing. There are a few places that do create more of a club atmosphere.

If you are keen to experience big techno and trance party then the Jungle Experience, Half Moon Party, Black Moon Party and Shiva Moon Party are only 20 minutes away by taxi in Bantai. The Full Moon Party in Haad Rin is the biggest outdoor party in Thailand. You can get speed boat taxis and normal taxis to the party from Thong Nai Pan.

Thai law states bars and restaurants should stop selling alcohol at 1am. In practice this law is only selectively enforced around the country. Most of the bars and restaurants in Thong Nai Pan will close arond midnight, but a few stay open.

Funky Buddha

The Funky Buddha is a small nightclub a short distance from the main road in Thong Nai Pan Yai (see l on the Thong Nai Pan Yai map). The night club has some outdoor seating in a small garden. Inside there is a bar, dance floor and raised seating cleverly arranged to create spaces for groups.

The DJ plays techno and house mostly. He generally plays fairly underground music, avoiding 'anthems' and cheesy chart music.

There is usually a party night once a week. It varies depending on the whim of the DJ / owner. If you are in Thong Nai Pan you should be able to find out quite easily when the next party is.

Parties in the Funky Buddha start at 10pm and go on until the early morning. The bar sells the usual selection of beers, cocktails and buckets. When there isn't a party night the bar is shut.

Funky Buddha is currently closed, but is sure to open sometime in the future.

Game Bar

Game Bar is on the main Thong Nai Pan Yai road (see m on the Yai map). It is a long-running bar that has a laid back atmosphere. There is a pool table and other games to enjoy.

Game Bar has party nights on Tuesday and Friday. They have DJ music. Late at night DJ Lye is often on the decks spinning his distinctive brand of tech / house as well as a few harder progressive techno tracks.

Game Bar shuts late if there is a crowd of people drinking.

Yai Bar

Yai Bar is a beachfront bar in Thong Nai Pan Yai (t on the map). It was taken over a couple of years back and since then has become a popular spot for late night drinking.

There is seating upstairs as well as on the beach. This isn't a bar with DJ music but it does sometimes organize fire dancing on the beach. It is a good spot for a few night caps.

Flip Flop Pharmacy

Flip Flop Pharmacy is sometimes referred to on this website as 'Flip Flop Bar' for the obvious reason that the name can cause confusion. It is a bar that moved in 2011 from Noi to Yai. The new location is still beach front (see u on the map) but not as pretty; otherwise, the bar remains the same.

Flip Flop has a pool table and offers draught Singha and Tiger beer. It also has bottled beers, spirits and a Jaigermeister dispenser. Flip Flop opens at 10am and stays open to late. The bar sometimes has a strong exp-pat flavour to it.

Thong Nai Pan Noi used to be the more happening of the two beaches at night. However, since Rasananda opened the Hideaway Bar has been pulled down and the Jungle Bar is only a shadow of its former self. There are a few late night drinking spots in Noi but Yai is the place to go for a party atmosphere.

Jungle Bar

The Jungle Bar (k on the Thong Nai Pan Noi map) is the original nightclub in Thong Nai Pan Noi. It is at the start of the village (if you are walking from the beach) on the left.

Jungle Bar has a large dance floor, raised seating around the outside with a few hammocks for those who really want to relax.

The party night has always been Monday night. These parties used to be well attended and great fun. Recently the long time owner has moved on and the future of the Jungle Bar is uncertain. Still if you want a drink and some dance music it is always worth popping your head in and seeing what is going on.

Better Than Sex and Luna Lounge

These two stylish bars at the back of the village (a and b on the map) often stay open late. They sell good cocktails as well as wine and beer.

Whereas Better Than Sex is more of a sit-around-and-relax type of venue, Luna Lounge has in the past thrown a few parties. The bar has recently changed hands and it is uncertain what events the new owners plan to organize.

Handsome Sandwich

Although Handsome Sandwich (i on the map) may look like a burger stand it is also a late night hangout. There is a cosy seating area on the side facing the side road going up to Tanaporn Massage House. It is a great place to grab a tasty sandwich and a cold beer, as well as get in a late night discussion with a smiling stranger.

The hard working sisters will often stay open for you if you want to have a few drinks.
